Nose, Osaka Prefecture, Japan Farmers Market Gelato Find
On a quick trip to a “Michi no eki” (backroad farmers’ market) in Nose, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, we discovered a little gelateria. It’s run by one of the farming families and they take many of their ingredients for their handcrafted gelato right from their farm.
The shop is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and national holidays.
It’s called (what translates to) “Farmer’s Gelato.”
They vary their gelato offerings for seasonally available flavors.
Here’s what they had when we were there:
A single scoop (small only) costs 380 Yen, while a double costs 450 Yen.
Don’t think you can get away with just taking sample spoons and having it for free… They’ve caught on and implemented a policy of charging 30 yen for three tastes.
(At the time of publication, $1 USD is equal to about 127 JPY.)
